In 1973 owner and founder Phala McKoewn retired and Norma Jean Waddell Risinger bought the studio and continued on the path of tradition and quality that had helped to establish the Twin Arts Studio's reputation. With Norma Jean’s production background and Deborah’s extensive musical theatre training the two formed The Greater Pasadena Civic Jazz Ballet Company and began producing shows such as the Nutcracker, The Wiz and Peter Pan. As the competition era began, the choice was made to concentrate on a venue that could involve a greater number of interested students.

Twin Arts is also known for its work in the community. In 2002, students danced with Mickey Mouse and Friends as Disney filmed it’s national broadcast of the Christmas Tree
